The Target HR project has just started its third year, having been established in August 2009 under the Big Lottery Fund’s Basis funding programme. It supports small and medium-sized voluntary and community organisations across 7 London boroughs- Camden, Islington, Kensington and Chelsea, Lambeth, Southwark, Wandsworth and Westminster.

We have recently carried out the project’s annual evaluation and once again it revealed very high levels of satisfaction. 100% of respondents to telephone interviews said that they would recommend the project to others. They attributed their high satisfaction ratings to a number of factors: to the project’s accessibility and responsiveness - people were particularly appreciative of how the project workers responded to issues that arose over and above actions identified in their original action plan; the relevance of the advice and support given, particularly its very ‘real world’ and practical focus; the  flexibility of approach adopted; and the skills, knowledge and reliability of Target HR project workers.

You can read full details fo the project and find an application for support form here: http://www.vac.org.uk/projects/target-hr

To find out more information about the project please contact Stefanie Borkum, Target HR advisor for Wandsworth on sborkum@vac.org.uk  or 020 7284 6564

7.00pm on Thursday 22 March, Jasmin's Function Rooms, 202 Upper Tooting Road, SW17 7TG

The BATCA Community Awards aim to celebrate ‘local heroes’ - people who work tirelessly as volunteers to serve the community.  This is BATCA’s third set of awards.

The earlier awards, in 2007 and 2009, were made to inspiring people from many backgrounds, including Asian women’s charity leaders, mosque and church workers, a headmistress, a milkman, a Brownie leader, a chair of school governors, leaders of an old people’s centre, plus team awards to the Talking Book service for blind people and a group of young Special Constables.

Nominations for this year’s awards are sought from members of the public. The closing date is 5 March. A panel of independent judges will decide on the awards, which will be presented by local VIPs at a celebratory evening at 7pm on 22 March at Jasmin's Function Rooms, 202 Upper Tooting Road, SW17 7TG.

Everyone is welcome to the presentation ceremony on 22 March. There will be food, fun and entertainment, and a great feeling of community goodwill.

For more information, and copies of the nomination forms, please contact

Narmeen Bawany at Secretary@batca.org or 07877 684964
