The BATCA Community Awards aim to celebrate ‘local heroes’ - people who work tirelessly as volunteers to serve the community. This is BATCA’s third set of awards.
The earlier awards, in 2007 and 2009, were made to inspiring people from many backgrounds, including Asian women’s charity leaders, mosque and church workers, a headmistress, a milkman, a Brownie leader, a chair of school governors, leaders of an old people’s centre, plus team awards to the Talking Book service for blind people and a group of young Special Constables.
Nominations for this year’s awards are sought from members of the public. The closing date is 5 March. A panel of independent judges will decide on the awards, which will be presented by local VIPs at a celebratory evening at 7pm on 22 March at Jasmin's Function Rooms, 202 Upper Tooting Road, SW17 7TG.
Everyone is welcome to the presentation ceremony on 22 March. There will be food, fun and entertainment, and a great feeling of community goodwill.
