The Putney Creche is an independent charity which was formed in 1958. The object of the charity is to provide support to parents or guardians of children under the age of 7 years, who are resident in the London Borough of Wandsworth and who are in financial need, hardship or distress. In order to meet this objective, the Trust provides two kinds of grants:
The trustee of the charity is Wandsworth Voluntary Sector Development Agency (WVSDA).

Funding applications from organisations are received by the panel 3 -4 times a year. The grants panel is responsible for deciding who will receive grant funding in line with the charity's objectives.
